Balancing the shirt production line under different operational constraints using an integer programming model

Efficient use of capacity is significant to enable apparel businesses work cost-effectively and provide timely service their customers. The increase in assembly-line efficiency associated with lower operating costs. Therefore, the main purpose balancing assembly lines manufacture products as profitable quickly possible. In this study, we consider a single-model line problem workforce machine constraints sewing department an company. We develop integer programming (IP) model optimally balance shirt production line, considering parallel machines each stage various operational such cycle time precedence constraints, task eligibility, number operators available. IP can either minimize open workstations or both, assign tasks subassembly parts close other has been run under scenarios using LINGO 15.0 optimization software. Additionally, have balanced Ranked Positional Weight Method (RPWM). outperforms RPWM results across all finds 33 stations 86.8% compared 38 75.4% RPWM.
